Washington County citizens can boast about their nationally-recognized, high-achieving schools.  Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) consists of 46 school sites and a diversity of programs, allowing education professionals flexible options to grow their career.  Teachers new to the school system have ample resources to help them be successful, including mentoring programs and support from student achievement specialists, content specialists, resource teachers, and administrative staff.  In addition, WCPS employees have many professional staff development options that foster leadership development and career growth.  An internship program is available for teachers interested in become certified administrators.

WCPS, which serves more than 22,000 students, ranks among the top four public school systems in Maryland, and has the second highest attendance rate in the state.  WCPS students have unique opportunities for career and academic exploration at the high school level.  Approximately 4,800 students are currently enrolled in Career Technology Education courses, and well over 300 students in specialized career academies.
