The National Endowment for the Humanities supports tuition-free summer programs in the U.S. and abroad for American school teachers, community college faculty, college and university faculty, and a select number of graduate students. Participants receive stipends to help cover travel and living expenses. The application deadline for NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes and NEH Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshops is in early March of each year.
The NEH also invites applications to direct a summer program on a topic of the director’s expertise. Programs may be hosted by a college, university, school system, learned society, center for advanced study, library or other repository, or a cultural or professional organization.
