SBCSC (South Bend Community School Corporation) is a diverse community of learners.  We have a culturally rich student population, educational programs for the academically gifted as well as those with special needs, and outstanding, safe facilities.  SBCSC is St. Joseph County’s oldest and largest school corporation, and the fourth largest school corporation in Indiana.  We have 34 schools with over 20,000 students, and six support facilities.  We also have instructional staff assigned to other locations throughout the community.

The SBCSC faculty work diligently to help students achieve state and national proficiencies, and we have seen progress in our test scores over the last few years.  While we believe that there is much more to a school than test scores, we continually strive to increase student achievement.

One of our primary centers, Kennedy Primary Academy, was recently named a Four Star School by the State of Indiana and a national Blue Ribbon School.  Our South Bend graduates are consistently accepted to Ivy League schools, and the Mock Trial Team at John Adams High School is a recent national champion.

SBCSC offers a variety of magnet schools with an assortment of specialized focus, and traditional schools for the primary and intermediate grades.  At the high school level, the choices are limitless.  We offer a magnet program at each of our four high schools, hands-on Career and Technical Education, as well as many fine arts and world language options.

Our dedicated teaching staff averages 17 years of experience.  The majority hold advanced degrees and many of our veteran teachers have received accolades for the excellence.  SBCSC is proud to have six of our teachers named “Indiana Teacher of the Year,” the most from any school district in the state.
