Polk County Schools (PCS) is the eighth largest District in the State of Florida with over 156 school sites and locations. The District presently serves over 93,000 students, from a variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences, representing over 160 countries. Polk County, which is located in the “Heart of Florida”, is halfway between Tampa and Orlando, Florida (200 miles from the Georgia border).
In 2007, Polk County was one of a select few communities recognized as an “All-America County” by the National Civic League. This recognition symbolizes the collective dreams of our residents to have a great place to live as well as raise their families. Since 1949, about 500 communities of all sizes (cities, towns, counties, neighborhoods and regions) have earned this distinguished title.
PCS is a place where students SOAR and Quality Counts! Five Polk public school students were named 2011 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship program.
