The Brockton Public School System is a progressive urban School system with a diverse 15,000+ student population. It is comprised of an experienced and vital teaching staff with 22 schools offering a variety of programs to meet both staff and students’ interests. The school system is growing and improving with an outlook to the successful future of its students.
Brockton High School is a safe, supportive environment that provides 4,300 students with the knowledge, skills, values and behaviors necessary to become responsible and productive members of a diverse society. Instruction focuses on enabling students to demonstrate the literacy skills of reading, writing, speaking and reasoning and preparing them to participate actively as citizens in a technologically advanced society.Brockton High was named one of America’s Best High Schools by the U. S. News & World Report in its annual ranking of the nation’s public schools, published December 10, 2009, the second time in as many years the school has earned the distinction. The highly-regarded weekly magazine analyzed more than 21,000 public schools in 48 states and the District of Columbia, then identified 1,750 for providing the highest quality education for all students, Brockton High School was among the 1,189 schools identified as bronze medal winners.

The six Middle Schools in the city offer safe learning environments that promote academic excellence and social well being for all students grades six to eight. The schools have a shared mission to create a collaborative learning community based on mutual respect and the belief that all students who enter the middle school can and will demonstrate academic progress and personal growth.
The thirteen Elementary schools provide an environment that encourages cooperation and respect. Our four newest schools are state-of-the-art facilities with the latest technology and all the amenities of the 21st century School. The city has its first ever “green school” that utilizes the latest energy-conservation technologies. Connections between home and school are encouraged to benefit the students, the families and the community. The teaching staff is made up of very experienced, capable and enthusiastic professionals.
In addition Brockton has three alternative settings for its students.
The BB Russell Alternative School services students in grades 5-12. It uses a Girls and Boys town Behavior Intervention and “Second Step” decision making curriculum along with a continuation of district curriculum. It offers small class settings, individualized MCAS instruction and Special Education Services.
The Brockton Champion School uses a School to Career pedagogy as its framework. It uses an innovative and flexible model to serve an under-served population, ages 16-21, in our community. Champion school provides and integrated learning experience for each student that will continually demonstrate how what is learned in the classroom relates to the workplace, their personal growth, and their role in the community and the future.
The Lincoln School specializes in instruction for Special Education students grade 3-12.
The program offers comprehensive Psychological Services, School-wide Behavior Support plan,Vocational Planning/Training and numerous activities that emphasize the development of a sense of community.
The Howard School, an early childhood center, provides a setting where children with disabilities learn in the least restrictive setting. It offers a continuum of service from substantially separate special needs classrooms to integrated classrooms where special needs children learn alongside typically developing children.
